Lectures on Philosophical Theology
Published in Paperback by Cornell Univ Pr (September, 1986)
Average review score:

the groundbreaking, genius theology of "Mannie" Kantgreat theological lectures by probably the greatest western philosopher who ever lived. woo-hoo! go Kant! this book is NOT INTIMIDATING! I was worried this would be a difficult read, but it is very straight-forward and the overall literary structure is not nearly as convoluted as his critiques and essays. If you like Immanuel Kant's school of thought and are interested in rational theology, then by all means buy this great book.

Lessons from the Hundred-Acre Wood: Stories, Verse & Widsom
Published in Hardcover by Disney Press (October, 1999)
Average review score:

Simple lessons for young and oldI saw this book and just had to buy it for a friend of minewith a young child who loves Winnie-the-Pooh. I liked it so much thatI read through most of the book myself! There are many illustrations that are classic Pooh and his friends, plus excerpts from the Pooh stories as well as lyrics from Pooh songs. But the best aspect is that each segment ends with a little "thought" that serves as a lesson to be learned from the character's adventures in the Hundred Acre Wood. Perfect for bedtime stories or to teach young children to read. For Winnie-the-Pooh fans, this is a must to add to your collection!

Let Me Alone: A Novel
Published in Hardcover by Dufour Editions (01 January, 1974)
Average review score:

Did a woman write this novel? The writer of this novel is better known as Anna Kavan - the name of a character in one of her earlier novels that she later took for herself. There must be some hidden significance in that! This is probably the strongest modern novel I have read. The start is captivating and brilliantly exposed, the middle is a bit flat and rather remorseless, but the ending is electric. At long last the principle character feels an iota of remorse for her actions against an unlikeable victim of her actions. I wonder how a woman could have written this novel - is it a brilliant psychological expose - almost a thriller - or is it a wonderfully personal account of a life written with startling naivete?
But more importantly: the content is superb. Because the author has chosen to write for the (beginning) backyard boatbuilder, it is actually a step-by-step guide! One of the most difficult stages of boatbuilding, the lofting process, is explained very thoroughly and illustrated by clear drawings (also by the author).
But there's more: lots of advice on preparations, tools, wood specifically suitable for boatbuilding and even suggestions for temporary shelters (everything illustrated).
In short, given the price it is a must for everyone who's going to build a boat using the cold-molding technique.
